The Conservation Campaign works only in collaboration with local, state and national partners to pass ballot measures and state and local legislation to fund conservation. What we bring to the table is a decade of expertise in introducing and passing ballot measures and fostering effective legislative advocacy. We can also provide partners with an organizational framework for a ballot measure or legislature campaign.

Bernalillo County, NM, 2014 “Open Space for All” campaign
A ballot question campaign in the county encompassing Albuquerque led to the overwhelming approval of a 15-year property tax for open space and natural areas.

St. Louis 2013 “Proposition P”
A 3/16-cent sales tax increase will provide funds to double greenway miles, improve local parks, and help fund the revitalization of the grounds of the iconic Gateway Arch.

“We Love New York” legislative media campaign
Since 2011, The Conservation Campaign has hosted the media campaign that successfully defended New York’s main source of conservation funding, the Environmental Protection Fund, from further cuts and then began restoring funding to pre-recession goals.

Bozeman, MT, 2012 “Connecting People, Parks and Nature”
Bozeman’s $15 million parks and trails bond won by a “yes” vote of 73 percent.

Houston 2012 “Parks by You” campaign
Proposition P, a $166 million bond measure to help fund an ambitious vision to link Houston’s great parks with ribbons of green along the city’s bayous, passed by 68 percent—the largest margin of any bond initiative in the city’s history.

The Conservation Campaign also sent out direct mail to 100,000 voters, using a consultant they had worked with before. Getting out that direct mail at a nonprofit rate was huge for us. Tigard, Oregon, 2010 bond measure
The Conservation Campaign helped pass a $17 million bond to purchase parks and conserve natural areas in a rapidly developing but fiscally conservative Portland-area suburb.
